Once the front of the bag was flipped inside out (so that the right sides were out), I pressed it nice and flat.
Then I sewed shut the little gap.
I repeated the whole process for the back of the bag. The only difference is I included a little loop I'd made out of some scrap fabric, folded in thirds and sewn down the middle. I placed this at the very center of the back of the bag.
Here are the finished front and the finished back!
Now they just needed to be sewn together.
