Dishcloth Discussion

This week's assignment is to post a picture of our dishcloth yarn stash. Here's mine. It's all Peaches & Cream or Sugar & Cream.

I thought the yarn was too pretty to be in a bin in the closet so I put it in this basket in my bedroom. Now that I look at this picture, there seems to be a dearth of blues, greens, purples. There might be some on the bottom layer, though I did not look. I know that until recently there was a half-used ball of lime green near the top. Lucy snorfled it away when I wasn't looking. I had no idea until I walked into the living room to find lime green yarn strewn about and Lucy using some as dental floss. I pried open her jaws and dug it out. Needless to say, that lime green ended up in the trash can.

I also have a couple cones of cotton, but they are not in the basket.

I decided to try something new (for me) for this swap and made a washcloth in chenille. It's very soft and squishy. It will go very well with the soap I am picking out for my partner.

This brings me to another thought. Why do we send soap with our dishcloths? Don't get me wrong, I've loved the soaps I've received (especially the giant bar Holly sent me last time). But I used the soap in the shower and the dishcloth in the kitchen with plain old Dawn dishwashing liquid. Why don't we match our soap to the intended use of the cloth? There are some very nice dishwashing soaps available at kitchen specialty shops. Don't take this as a complaint. I am just pondering.

Happy knitting!

The ballband came out terrific!!

There is a definite lack of purple in that basket but what a beautiful room decoration. :-)

Makes sense to me to send soap that matches use of cloth. I have some cotton chenille yarn, may give it a try. I love the way your came out!

Boy, you sure do have quite a stash of cotton yarn. I'm working on a swiffer cover in the same pattern as your dishcloth. I found the pattern on Ravelry (of course).
Cute pup picture.

Good point on the soap! :)
Would've loved to have seen a pic of Lucy with her "steal"!

I like the chenille and I knew we were matched for reason last time. Our minds think alike. In my 1st dishcloth swap in summer the girl sent me Dish liquid soap from Williams and Sonoma in lemon basil and it was wonderful every time I washed the dishes it filled my kitchen with a great clean scent. Love it. I usually ask all my partners now, if they prefer liquid or bar, kitchen or bath it just makes sense. That Lucy she is mess in a good way though.

Hey anonymous swap partner,

Lucy with the yarn in her mouth and all over the room was one of those parental moments when you just laugh inside but must appear strict to discourage that behavior. The camera wasn't convenient so I didn't get a picture. Now I wish I had!
