Though it's not always obvious from this blog, I actually have pets of two species. I've had kitties about 20 years and a dog for about 1.5 years. The current kitty is Maggie. She was an only child for a couple years before 8-week-old Lucy came to live here. At first Maggie wasn't sure what to think of Lucy and she'd hiss at her. Then she'd give Lucy a lot of space, but if Lucy didn't respect that space Maggie would swipe her across the nose. My boyfriend used to remind Maggie that at one time she was the newbie and the older cat Ted wasn't so sure about her. I guess this eventually sunk in.
Maggie and Lucy don't cuddle up to each other, but they are certainly tolerant of each other. Look how close they can be without any raised paws or harsh noises. They are learning to be sisters.

We've always been a three species family, so my Sushi (cat) was used to having dogs around, and she actually plays with them and such; she is more tolerant of Murphy than of Dolby, but that's because Dolbs likes to chew on her head! LoL!
Thanks for sharin' such a sweet photo, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead!
I used to raise my dogs and cats together and they became good friends. Now my husband is so allergic to cats that we have an all dog household.
Sibling rivalry. Always an adventure. It took Spunky 5 years to learn to play with the puppehs. Of course the fact that they outweigh him by 60 lbs may have helped. They actually play with each other now. Not a lot but sometimes, it usually involves running...
Awwww they are sweet! We have a cat too, and they all get along quite well. I bet that was a real change for you though after having a cat all those years to getting a dog?
They look like they are trying to be on their best behavior for this picture.
What a sweet, sweet pic!
Awwwww sweet picture of your babies!!
