DOT -- Pink Nose

I haven't had a Dogs on Thursday post in a long time, but I've enjoyed reading everyone else's posts.

Does anyone know what this is called?  My puppy's black nose has turned pink this winter.  I know I've read about it before, but I can't recall why this happens.  This didn't happen last year.  However, she was still a puppy, about 6 months old, last winter.

No matter the color of her nose, she is beautiful and I am so grateful she is mine.

Not sure but we had a puppy who had a pure black nose and it turned pink as the weeks went by. I never really thought beyond it. I thought it was like spots on a Dalmatian !!!

Wow, I have not heard of that happening. Hmm, I wonder if Ginger's nose will turn black? Lucy looks just like Ginger with her new pink nose.

Your dog is beautiful! Not sure about the nose though. My dog's nose has started turning pinkish now as she turns 7 years old. Perhaps it's the age factor?

Lucy is so cute. You should knit her a sweater. Coal's nose is still completely black and he's a completely fabulous pup. And, to think, until recently I though dogs were too high maintenance. It's true - they are - but so worth it.

There's a really good explanation of why the nose changes color at this site www.woodhavenlabs.com/yellow-pigment.html
